Christmas parades and tree lightings

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

We hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving, but now it’s time to move on to Christmas! The weather is getting colder, the sun is setting earlier, but this time of year is full of events and festivities that will keep you warm and having fun!

Kicking off the Christmas season means parades, tree lighting ceremonies, and of course, Santa!

Shepherdstown, West Virginia will be one of the earliest celebrations to attend – on Christmas in ShepherdstownNovember 25th, there is a schedule of events beginning at 4 pm that you don’t want to miss. To get started, there will be a bonfire and a chili and cornbread supper.  Then, the lighting of the town tree and a visit from Santa Claus! Throughout the rest of the weekend, you can enjoy carriage rides, a live Nativity, and a Christmas sing-along at the Methodist Church. After that, there will be events every weekend (and even on some weekdays) leading up to Christmas. Most events are free, and everyone is invited! For more information on the other events, click here.

On November 28th, Old Town Winchester will be hosting their Christmas parade! It starts at 7:00 pm and lasts until about 8:00 pm.  And make plans to stay for the tree lighting ceremony, which will follow immediately after the parade. Santa will walk down Rouss Avenue to the official tree lighting stand to light the tree – the kids will love it!
