The Super 8 Film Club is back again! We know you’ve been patiently waiting for the next movie showing, and we are excited to tell you all about it. This Saturday, January 21st, you can bring the whole family to enjoy the film Seasons at the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester.
As it is perfectly stated on the Alamo’s website, “Seasons is the awe-inspiring and thought-provoking tale of the long and tumultuous shared history that inextricably binds humankind with the natural world.”
The two directors, Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud, bring the audience an incredibly educational, yet entertaining, movie about the life of the plants and animals in Europe following the last Ice Age. Although the film is in French, the Alamo will be showing it with subtitles – this is a wonderful opportunity to expose the kids to a different language and culture.
Another quote from the Alamo’s website reads, “Winter had gone on for 80,000 years when—in a relatively short period of time—the ice retreated, the landscape metamorphosed, the cycle of seasons was established, and the beasts occupied their new kingdom. It was only later that man arrived to share this habitat, first tentatively as migratory hunter/gatherers, then making inroads in the forest as settled agriculturalists, and later more dramatically via industry and warfare.”
The Super 8 Film Club has already held several movie showings, and the turnout has been awesome each time! The point of the club is to get families together to experience films in a new way – while the films are all family-friendly, they are carefully selected to be educational, fresh, and unique.
Seasons is a film full of history, culture, wildlife, and a narrative that will have you engaged the whole time. Deborah Young from The Hollywood Reporter writes, “Truly beautiful. Captures the poetry, humor and drama of wildlife.”
It starts at 11:00 am and everyone is welcome! If you and your family haven’t been to a Super 8 Film Club movie showing yet, you should definitely come out this weekend. It’s a great time for all ages, and you can engage with other families who enjoy good cinema as well (plus, it can be an educational experience for the kids!). Children under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult. The tickets are $5 a piece. To keep up with all Super 8 Film Club happenings, follow their Facebook page.
