Great Activity this Weekend for the Kids!
Were you able to make it to the first Super 8 Film Club showing in October? Did you have fun meeting new people and enjoying good cinema with your kids? Well, there was a great turn out, and now it’s time to do it again! The Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester is inviting children and their families to the Super 8 Film Club’s second event – a screening of The Muppet Movie – on November 19th, 2016.
“We are excited about this title because it brings the iconic Henson characters back to the big screen, but also plenty of historical references that families will be able to both laugh at and discuss after the event,” said Andy Gyurisin.
If your youngin’s love movies and want to meet some new friends who share that passion, the Super 8 Film Club is the perfect way to do so! This will be the second meeting for the club, and they plan to continue meeting once a month to watch films and engage in conversation. The screening will start at 11:00 am. Starting on November 26th, the Christmas series starts with everyone’s favorite holiday movie – The Polar Express! A film that is all about the holidays, love, friendship, and joy, during such a special season. As an Alamo Winchester tradition, they will show the movie for about three weeks, so you have plenty of time to catch it on the big screen with your family. Gyurisin tells us that the movie will show throughout December 17th, and that it is complete with a conductor and a golden train ticket for everyone!
The holiday cheer continues as they will start to show Elf the first week of December! For those who haven’t seen it, Will Ferrell stars as Buddy the Elf in this wonderful movie that focuses on family, togetherness, and most importantly, laughter.
We asked Gyurisin what else was coming up and he told us, “other family favorites like Arthur Christmas, A Christmas Story, Christmas in Connecticut, The Nativity Story, White Christmas, and Home Alone screen throughout the month leading up to December 25th.” What an incredible line up of holiday movies to enjoy!
For all of you foodies, this may interest you: The Alamo is doing a food-based film series this month! This will include the documentary City of Gold, the 1991 film Delicatessen, and the Italian favorite, Big Night. These are expected to be very exciting screenings!
