Are you and your “person” tired of the same old dinner movie date? Do you want to go on adventures but you’ve already hiked almost every trail and floated every river? Have no fear, Go Blue Ridge Travel is here with our first romance blog to get you and your significant other outdoors and doing something fun!
Bryce Resort and Lake Laura are the perfect getaway for a couple looking to escape from the fast-paced workday or crying kids. “Bryce Resort provides exciting outdoor fun perfect for you and your partner to find a newfound love in yourselves as well as in nature around you,” says Doug Grayson, Director of Marketing at Bryce. With a zipline adventure, bike park, private beach, and dining options plus wineries close by, it will be hard to decide what to do first!
Located in Basye, Virginia, Bryce Resort is a hidden gem of the Shenandoah Valley. Upon arrival, head over to the zipline while lodging sets up your cozy cabin. Soar high over the trees and slopes of Bryce Resort on the recently re-designed Zipline Adventure. The Zipline Adventure cruises over chairlifts at over 90 feet off the ground. Enjoy the view as you fly by at almost 40 miles per hour.
Bryce Resort’s Zipline is uniquely different than other ziplines. It takes almost 2 hours to complete the entire guided tour of the mountain and includes a ride on the chair lift to the top of the mountain for the start of your adventure!
After ziplining, head down the mountain for a light lunch out of the summer heat at the Fireside Grill or Express Grill at Bryce Resort. Pick from pizza, burgers, sandwiches and other hearty meals that will fill you up! Once you all fill up on your lunch, mosey on over to your choice of disc golf, golf or mini golf for some competitive fun! From personal experience, disc golf was so much fun when my boyfriend and I played! Whatever course you decide, each is different in theme and rules to play! The disc golf course is a 9 hole course that requires a lift up the mountain for a game of play that leads all the way back down the mountain! Hit the links at Bryce’s 18- hole championship course offers stunning mountain views, tree lined fairways, and a tricky little creek which spans across the fairways. The mini golf course is a custom built, 18 hole mini course that features obstacles reflecting the local area and resort icons. All are sure to keep you moving and laughing!
If that isn’t enough friendly competition for you both, Bryce offers summer tubing for more exciting fun! It’s like snowtubing but without the snow! Race your partner down the hill and whoever reaches the bottom first, buys dinner.
After your day of fun at Bryce Resort, retire to your cabin to shower and clean up, then get in the car and head over to one of the nearby wineries. My sweetheart and I visited Cave Ridge Vineyard and tried a variety of exquisite wines and cheeses.
Head back over to Bryce just in time for a romantic dinner. Watch the sunset over Bryce’s hilltop while eating your delicious meal in the relaxing atmosphere of the Restaurant & Bar. Enjoy the delicious food made up by Bryce Resort. Once you all are finished, head back to your cabin, and snuggle down for a goodnight’s sleep. Goodnight, Bryce Resort.
Rise and shine! Time for day two of the romantic adventure! Be sure to eat a hearty breakfast because today is full of active surprises!
Head over to the newly opened Bike Park where you can get your adrenaline pumping. The Park has 8 lift-accessed trails ranging from Beginner to Advanced, some of which are over 2 miles in length. Bryce Resort also offers a progressive skills park where you can practice your skills prior to heading up the mountain. If you have never done this level of mountain biking, the a beginner’s course offered is highly recommended.
After the bike park, grab lunch at the Express Grill and take it with you for a romantic picnic on the beaches of Lake Laura.
Slow your outdoor day down a couple notches at serene Lake Laura at Bryce Resort. Whether that be lounging on the beach or paddle boating, Lake Laura has something for everyone. Canoes, paddleboats, paddleboards and kayaks are available to rent making for a great day spent on and in the water. If you are in the mood for a hike, enjoy our 3-mile nature/hiking trail with scenic views around Lake Laura. With all of this to do, make sure you find time to relax and breathe in the fresh mountain air while you enjoy everything Lake Laura has to offer.
Return to Bryce’s Copper Kettle Restaurant for your delectable dinner. Once you all are finished, it’s time to say goodbye to Bryce Resort and Lake Laura! Be sure to return in the winter for even more fun in store!
