Massanutten Resort offers three upcoming music festivals. The first one is 2016’s Summer Jam on Sunday, July 3rd. Then on August 20th, the Mountain Jamboree and in October the Fall Fest. will celebrate While last year’s summer jams were a big hit, Massanutten plans to make this one a real show stopper! With live music, kid’s corner, wine/beer garden, and patriotic fireworks; this summer jam is an event you won’t want to miss! “Massnutten offers a wonderful visit to the mountains. You can relax, let the kids enjoy the safe environment, and listen to a variety of bands. These events are perfect for all ages with plenty to do,” says Nancy Craun, founder and owner of Go Blue Ridge Travel.
For the summer festivals which feature fireworks, gates open at 5, families can choose between all kinds of activities. The little ones can go to the Kid’s Corner where they can win prizes, make crafts and play with Massanutten Waterpark, Shenandoah Valley Kids Trail, and their partners. RVA Hoop House will also be at the kid’s corner entrancing the kids with their hoop dancing routines.
Mom and Dad can head on over to the Wine & Beer Garden where they are greeted with a variety of beers and fine wines. Wine will be available from Cross Keys Vineyards. Beer selection includes Killians Red, Blue Moon Belgian White, Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy, Foster’s Lager, Samuel Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA, and many more! Food vendors such as Jack Browns Burger Joint, Big Fat Daddy’s BBQ, and Wing It will also be selling a delicious selection food throughout the night!
All families can enjoy the live music while waiting for the fireworks show. Each festival features leading bands. The Summer Jam line up opens the Summer Jam is Party of Four at 5:30. Playing your favorite songs while their four-part harmonies are perfectly in tune, this cover band brings to life the best songs of the last two decades of the twentieth century. Following the Party of Four, Teaze plays the greatest party anthems from Bon Jovi to Van Halen, with stage moves Metallica wouldn’t dare attempt. For the final set, Massanutten Summer Jam welcomes Three Sheets to the Wind. Named both as “Best Band” by Richmond Magazine, and “Best Cover Band” by STYLE Weekly for five years running, Three Sheets to the Wind is America’s #1 Tribute to Yacht Rock. Three Sheets to the Wind pays authentic tribute to AM Gold classics from the ’70s and ’80s–undoubtedly the smoothest music ever created by mankind.
Everyone’s favorite event kicks off at 10pm. Although the fireworks show may be too late for the little ones, the Summer Jam will also have the flying of our nation’s colors at 6:55pm. Be sure to look above the stage and to the zip lines. The fireworks will last 13 to 15 minutes. To get the best view of the show, be sure to situate your family near the ski lodge and Lift 4. The fireworks are part of the Summer Jam event which acts as a fundraiser for the SPCA. While you may view fireworks from outside of the event grounds, it strongly encouraged that you attend the event and help raise money for furry friends in need!
