Labor Day is upon us! Are you looking to do something fun and different with the family this year? Tired of the same old cookouts and hotdogs? Here is a compilation of exciting things going on all weekend long! Start making your itinerary!
You can start out on Friday, September 1st, at the Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum in Winchester. In celebration of “Free First Friday,” admission is free from 5:00 pm till 7:30 pm. You & the kids can have a blast exploring all four floors of the museum!
If you want to have fun without going too far or tiring the kids out too much, you can spend the entire weekend at The Family Drive-In Theatre! They are hosting a weekend-long Dusk till Dawn Movie Marathon. That’s right, 4-5 movies per screen, all weekend long. Tickets are already on sale, so make sure to buy yours to secure your spot! You can see the movie line-ups here.
The meteorologists are calling for some perfect weather – nice and warm without being too hot. This means you can spend the weekend outside! Head over to Mackintosh Fruit Farm to pick fresh fruits and veggies. Pick enough for a recipe and challenge yourselves to make something new and unique! Instead of apple pie, you could try cinnamon sugar apple fritters. Or, pick some tomatoes and cucumbers, chop them up, mix in red onion, basil, and a vinaigrette, and you’ve got a fresh summertime salad.
If the kids don’t have school Monday morning, they’ll love to spend Sunday evening playing laser tag! Skyline Paintball & Laser Tag even has a deal going on – Sundays from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm is Open Play. You can buy tickets online beforehand for an extra discounted rate, then all you have to do is show up and play!
We totally understand if you’d rather spend the weekend relaxing… that’s why we think Lake Laura at Bryce Resort is a fantastic place to do just that! You can enjoy floating on a raft in the lake, laying out on the beach, or even paddle boating at your leisure. Stay for one day, or stay for the entire weekend – it’s up to you!
Start making your plans now because it is coming up fast! We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labor Day Weekend in the Valley!
