For many brides choosing their wedding venue becomes easier because they know it is going to be a winery. Here is a great winery wedding venue for you to consider. Remember wineries are also great for rehearsal dinners and bridal outings with your friends.
868 Estate Vineyards located outside of Hillsboro in Loudoun County offers brides… their friends and visitors to the Shenandoah Valley… a very different vineyard experience. Having first opened as Grandale Restaurant, they truly pair great food and wines together.
Just a few minutes from the Harpers Ferry National Park in West Virginia and the historic town of Leesburg in Virginia, 868 Estate Vineyards is named 868 because they sit on 868 acres that at the property’s summit offer a breath taking view of Short Hill Mountain and the Blue Ridge Mountains. To our knowledge, they are the only winery in Go Blue Ridge Travel’s region that has both a fine dining restaurant and a winery on the same property. Many wineries and the now popular winery bars popping up pair food and wine but the food is catered in.
What is unusual about this site is that the Grandale Restaurant opened in 2005 as a historic operating farm with a dining experience on property first and just recently opened as a vineyard. When I asked Executive Chef Arthur “AJ” Clark “Why Food?, his comment was “It is all I have ever done. I grew up in a family with a passion for cooking” Grandale Restaurant has embodied from the restaurant’s conception the ‘food to farm table concept’ way before it became popular. “What is exciting now with 868 Estate Vineyard opening is that I am working directly with our winemaker, Carl DiManno. Both of us are fanatics about the pairing of wine and food. Adjectives the two like to throw around are ‘whimsical, artisan, cutting edge and prolific.’
I could also tell from our conversation that AJ has a passion for weddings as well. “I love to create the event from the look to the flow of the event to the culinary experience” My joy is seeing the happiness of everyone attending the event.
Grandale Restaurant offers full service catering both at 868 Estate Vineyard as well as the site of your choice. With Grandale’s emphasis on fine food and Carl’s years of making wine under his own labels “Revolution and Carel’s, the three families realized Granddale offered a unique opportunity to truly pair food and wine on location. Unlike many vineyards where you can drink wine with good cheeses and breads, at 868 Estate Vineyard you can pair your wine with a wonderful dining experience at their Grandale Restaurant.
