Two New Fall Festivals on October 21st –

First Annual – Celebrating fall seasonal craft beers, great food from family recipes, good bluegrass and family fun activities. Throx Country Store is hosting a FALL JAMBOREE  here in Winchester, Virginia at 1488 Senseny Road.  Indulge in oysters, smoked chicken, and BBQ. The band is Moosejaw Bluegrass. And activities include corn hole tournaments for the kids and adults, pony rides, face-painting, an eating contest, a barber for the gents who want a “dapper-do” trim by Eagen and Company, cigars from John B. Hayes and more.  Admission is FREE.  Food and Beer tickets can be purchased on line or at the gate.

Second Annual – THE GATHERING is aFestivals | Go Blue Ridge Travelbout Native American people and neighbors CELEBRATING THE HARVEST with dance, regalia, storytelling, giving thanks and various social interactions … with invitation for all to learn and participate. This event offers living history exhibitors – a truly educational event for children into America’s past and future. October 22nd is an IRON HORSE Motorcycle Ride, painted ponies, fry bread and much more. The Gathering takes place at the Clarke County Fairgrounds with gates opening at 9 am.  Advance Ticket sales on line.  Learn more.

Just for Kids – The kids may be back in school, but the family fun continues! With the weather cooling down and the leaves changing colors, fall is on its way. Pumpkins and Corn Mazes are open.  Here are three of our favorites.

Corn Mazes | Go Blue Ridge Travel Temple Hall Farm Park! The only 20-acre corn maize on the East Coast? Count me in! Some of the activities going on there include farm tours and animal exhibits, a corn box, pig races, pumpkin blasters, and more.

Back Home on the Farm!  Each weekend has a special theme. Check out their facebook page for the latest news.  There is also Seniors Night Out – Enjoy the Farm’s activities, grab a hayride, visit the pumpkin patch, play bingo, putt putt golf and more. Mackintosh Fruit Farm! We love this time of year at Mackintosh Fruit Farm! From picking apples, to the pumpkin patch, to the corn maze, there is endless fun to be had at the farm! If you want to try something new this October, you should check out their Apple Butter Day and 10K Run. Register for the 10K today and start preparing for a beautiful run through the trail around the farm. When the race is over, there will be a post-race party with tons of food, music, and even awards! Stick around to have a full day of fun at the Apple Butter Festival.

Best Fall Festivals celebrating years of success!

Halfway between Harrisonburg and Winchester sits the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds – the spot of Shenandoah Autumnfest! Starting at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 14th, in Woodstock, VA, you can have a blast at this festival! Over 25 food and beverage vendors, and over 40 arts and crafts vendors means there is plenty to see and do. If you’re looking to make a day of it, purchase a Tasting Ticket! Massanutten Resort is hosting their Fall Festival on October 14th. They’ve got three awesome bands lined up, plus food vendors, beer and wine on deck, and of course – activities planned for the kids! The event is rain or shine, so make sure to be prepared. All proceeds benefit the McGaheysville and Elkton Fire and Rescue Squads, so come out to enjoy a fun day with your family for a great cause!

A classic for the fall is Oktoberfest! Bryce Resort in Basye, VA, is throwing their annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 21st. Admission is free – yup! There will be traditional German sausages, Bavarian pretzels, a German beer garden, and more. Kids can have a blast painting pumpkins and jumping around in the castle bounce!

Shenandoah Valley Apple Harvest Festival –  2018 will be the Rotary Club of Winchester’s 43rd year hosting this event.  It spans two days, September 15th & 16th, and is held at the Frederick County Fairgrounds.
