Encore Elite Partners (EEP) and Shenandoah University School of Business (SU) will be collaborating together to offer a full day of marketing sessions open to both large and small businesses here in Virginia – West Virginia – Maryland. Taking place on February 27th from 9 am – 5 pm. We will also be inviting students at Shenandoah University as well as other local universities and community colleges to attend. The registration fees after costs will be used to award student scholarships to the American Marketing Association conferences in 2019.
With the focus centered only on how to market your business, we invite all businesses from any industry to attend this unique event. Our speakers have worked for every industry from tourism to manufacturing to insurance and more agencies. The rules of good marketing are the same.

Meet your Moderator
Montressa Washington comes to us from Shenandoah University where she is an Assistant Professor at the business school. She will be moderating the entirety of the summit, as well as presenting her own case study in the afternoon.
With over 20 years of management consulting experience, coupled with academic research skills and keen business acumen, Montressa is the quintessential scholar-practitioner. Montressa enjoys coaching budding entrepreneurs as well as seasoned business owners who desire to expand their enterprises. Well-being is important to Montressa, and she incorporates her training as a certified yoga instructor and meditator into her business coaching philosophy.
Keynote speaker will be Rita D. McClenny, CEO of the Virginia Tourism Corporation, will be opening with the summit’s first topic, “The Brand.” The “Virginia is for Lovers” brand is celebrating 50 years and is now recognized as one the top tourism brands in the United States. Rita will discuss the brand’s promise and how it has evolved over the past 50 years to meet the new demands of the tourism customer Virginia courts today.
Amongst the ranks and presenting “Brand Promise” will be none other than the founder of the famed Virginia Foodie, Georgiana Dearing! If you like food, chances are you follow @vafoodie on some channel or other. Part analyst, part creative, George puts both sides of her brain to work leading the team at Water Street as they help manufacturers navigate the rapidly changing landscape of modern marketing campaigns. Several of Shenandoah University‘s top business professors, along with the assistant dean of Student Affairs, will be involved in presenting throughout the summit’s duration. The three pictured below, Dr. Jackson, Dr. Kim, and Dr. Polite, will lead on the topic “The SU Experience.”
Giles Jackson is a “Practicing Academic” with a doctorate from Virginia Tech and over 25 years experience starting and running companies in a wide range of sectors, from wind energy to physical therapy. He teaches in the areas of marketing, management, and sustainability and all of his courses include practical hands-on projects with for-profit and non-profit organizations. His newest clients include Massanutten Resort and Quantum Sails, co-founder of the 52 SUPER SERIES, the world’s leading grand prix monohull yacht racing circuit, sponsored by Rolex.
Dr. Fritz G. Polite is the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the Harry F. Byrd Junior Jr., School of Business at Shenandoah University. He has over 30 years of experience in business, sports, management, coaching, and teaching to include 20 years of international experience. From the Harlem Globetrotters to the New York Football Giants to working eight Super Bowls to the Kentucky Derby and the summer Olympic games in Tokyo, Japan 2020… It would take hours to cover where this man has been!
Dr. Kim is Professor of Marketing and teaches marketing management & strategy, marketing research, consumer behavior, and professional selling. Her research interest includes customer satisfaction and retention, consumer penalty, and relationship marketing. Her research has been published in many different academic journals including Business Horizons, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Service Research, and Journal of Travel & Tourism Marketing. Dr. Kim uses a pedagogical approach of “learning by doing” and values partnerships with local communities and businesses.

The EEP team, also known as Go Blue Ridge Travel, is excited to be upgrading what was formerly the GoBRT Academy Summit to a partnered Strategies for Success marketing summit with Shenandoah University. The business health of the Shenandoah Valley being their key concern, the summit will focus on bringing businesses together in an educative environment. The summit has been around for 5 years and will continue to grow in the future at Shenandoah University’s Byrd School of Business.
